All feedback is appreciated and welcomed, but be sure to read the FAQs before asking!

I would like to thank :iconkestik: for creating the original concept! :)

FAQs:

Q: What is Base?
A: Base is a theme made for Windows 8

Q: Hey! This theme has weird jump list problems and titlebar color! I'm using Windows 8.1
A: This theme does not work with windows 8.1 yet. I'm currently waiting for a way to solve the titlebar issue.

Q: Help! The theme isn't applying and I am getting a grey basic theme!
A: Make sure to patch/override your uxtheme.dll file using UXStyle or UXtheme Ultra patcher.

Q: Will there be a windows 7 version?
A: Probably not, since I no longer have Windows 7 on any PC

Q: Will there be other colors?
A: Probably yes. There is a white alternate version here: fav.me/d64h5fl

Q: The up arrow icon is so ugly, why don't you change it?
A: I can't, you would need to modify your system to do this

Q: How can I get the Start Menu like the one you have in the preview?
A: You need StartIsBack, which you can get here (start 8 can also apply the skin, but it won't look right): startisback.com

Q:Hey, explorer's title text is black, how can I fix this?
A:You need ribbon disabler (see "Info")

Amazing visual style, and I've been using it since it was first released! So thank you for this theme~

Only small problem I've noticed, which has been becoming more and more annoying is the selection colour. Hovering over an item either on the desktop or inside an explorer window shows a box around the file or folder that appears light, which is nice. Selecting it by left-clicking isn't really much of a change, and deselecting makes it go dark. I believe these colours are meant to be reversed? Not sure, but it doesn't seem right in my opinion.

I noticed in the changelog it mentions this issue has been fixed (3/12/2013, perhaps it's referring to something else?), but I've updated this theme with every update and it doesn't fix the issue.

Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated, and your work is fantastic!

I noticed this too, yesterday. It doesn't bother me but yes, those colors should be inversed...

If anyone can lend me some assistance, I would like some help on reinstalling Base.

I had installed the theme Dark Leopard for my Windows 8.1 laptop to see how it worked. I didn't get any results--as in, the theme did not show up at all, I think my computer reverted back to the standard Windows 8.1 theme--so I switched back to Base.

However, Base did not show up; I am stuck with the vanilla 8.1 theme. I've replaced the Base files with the updated versions released on June 29. I've checked Ribbon Disabler x86 and x64 and have them both set to Disabled, and I can't do anything about the uxStyle files, but it's telling me that the only option I have is to uninstall uxStyle, which leads me to believe that I already have it installed.

I'm at a loss at what to do now. I could run a system restore (unfortunately I hadn't backed up recently, but that's what I get for not backing up before I installed Dark Leopard), but is there any less drastic way to get Base back? Should I uninstall uxStyle and try installing UxTheme instead?

Thanks in advance :D

You should use this instead of uxstyle: www.syssel.net/hoefs/software_…

Just to let you know; I simply selected Base again a few minutes ago and it works, even though I had not installed UxTheme. Thanks for your advice anyways :)

Just a heads up, uxstyle has been known to give you the black screen of death with no way to recovery. Ultrauxthemepatcher has a safe switch feature, which will switch back to the default theme if anything goes wrong.

Okay. Should I uninstall uxStyle before installing Ultrauxthemepatcher, or is that not necessary? If I do have to uninstall uxStyle, do I need to switch to my default theme first?

You would need to switch back to the default theme, uninstall uxstyle, and then install ultrauxthemepatcher.

Just switched to Ultrauxthemepatcher right now with no problems. So it's guaranteed to return me to the default Windows 8.1 Theme in the event that I forget to switch back to it?
