Q: What is summit?
A: Summit is an OS X Yosemite inspired theme for Windows 8.1
Q: How can I download this?
A: Press the download button on the right side of the page
Q: How can I install this theme?
A: Take the content of the zip folder you downloaded and place it in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. Make sure you patch your computer using UXThemePatcher or UXStyle.
Q: How do I update the theme?
A: First, make a restore point to make sure you can always go back if anything goes wrong. Afterwards, change your theme to another theme such as the default aero theme. Log off and on, then insert the new theme files in the appropriate location (see above). Apply the theme and you're good to go!
Q: This doesn't look exactly like OS X Yosemite!
A: This is my take on Apple's flat style, so does not necessarily match OS X Yosemite 100%
Q: Help! The theme isn't applying and I am getting a grey basic theme!
A: Make sure to patch/override your uxtheme.dll file using UXStyle or UXtheme Ultra patcher.
Q: Will there be a windows 7 version?
A: Possibly, but I currently don't have Windows 7. Please do not ask as I already addressed this.
Q: Will there be an Aero version?
A: I'm not sure as the creator of Aero8 is not the nicest guy in the world.
Q: May I use this theme in my transformation/customization pack? May I make a mirror/redistribute it? Could I modify it for public use?
A: Absolutely no, unless you have permission from me.
- 6/9/2014: Initial Release
- 6/10/2014: Fixed uncombined taskbar text
- 6/11/2014: Minor design changes, smaller taskbar when using small icons
- 6/19/2014: Fixed black text in navigation pane.
UPDATE: it took a couple of repatches but it seems to be fixed.
Could it possible to make windows borderless version?
Also very annoying: sharing settings in W8 when making multiple VMs. All of a sudden my host had the same theme as my test VM, just because I signed in on the test VM.
